Nicholas Alvin Durst

Nicholas Alvin Durst, the son of Alvin and Mildred (Warren) Durst was born July 31, 1950, in Spencer, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in the Spencer area where he attended school and graduated from Spencer High School in 1968.

Nicholas enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1969 and served until his Honorable Discharge in 1972. He worked at National Spencer and then Eaton Corporation for 40 plus years until his retirement at the age of 62.

Nicholas enjoyed riding motorcycles, flying drones, making YouTube videos of riding motorcycles and flying drones, singing to karaoke, dancing, playing with computers, and feeding the birds and squirrels. He was fond of his 2016 black Ford Mustang; he loved his cats, especially Mr. Black and Olive (Ollie); and loved to tell stories to family and friends. He was a proud uncle to his nieces and nephews.

Nicholas passed away on Saturday, March 20, 2021, at the Spencer Hospital in Spencer, Iowa, at the age of 70. He was preceded in death by his parents; one niece, Amy; Mr. Black, and his other family cats.

Left to cherish his memory are his two sisters: Leatrice (Gary) Bechler of Spencer, IA, and Marlene (Emmett) Wise of Big Stone City, SD; two nieces and two nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; great-great-niece and nephew; other relatives and friends.
