Norbert 'Norb' Dean Wimmer

Norbert 'Norb' Dean Wimmer, the son of Earl Henry and Edna May Schumann Wimmer, was born April 13, 1940 in Hartley, IA. Norb's childhood years were spent in May City and Hartley, IA. In 1954 the family moved to rural Everly, IA. Norb graduated from Everly High School in 1958. Upon graduation, he worked at various jobs until he went to work at the Spencer Packing Plant. Norb married Arlene Emerson on April 12, 1962. To this union 3 children were born; twin daughters, Kelly and Shelly, and one son, Michael. Norb retired from Eaton Corporation in 2000. In his younger days he loved fishing and hunting. He went on several trips to the river for paddlefish with the 'pack' guys. He and his cousin Dwight were avid fox and coyote hunters. As Norb got older his fishing was mainly bullheads, and left the hunting to his son and 2 grandsons. Norb taught his 2 grandsons how to catch and clean fish. We all have memories of fishing together as a family. Norb was an avid baker and loved to bake for his family and especially for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. For all those who knew Norb, family was his life. Norb passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at the Spencer Hospital in Spencer, IA, at the age of 76. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Marlin. Norb is survived by his wife Arlene; daughter Kelly (Wayne) McMeekin and their children Dalton (Jess) Wimmer and Payten McMeekin and her partner Tyler; Shelly (Tom) Tewes and their children Brandon (Marlana) Tewes and Toni Tewes; and son Michael (Jodi) Wimmer and their 2 daughters Taylor and Shauna Wimmer; one sister, Joan Wimmer; one sister-in-law, Sonja Wimmer; 5 great grandchildren, Tommi, Kiptyn, Bentlee, Ruxen, and London; other relatives and many friends. In Lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his name.
