Norene Kay (Loveland) Wetherell, the daughter of John and Alberta (Feaster) Loveland, was born March 7, 1948 in Spencer, IA. She attended Spencer Schools, graduated from Spencer High School in 1966 and lived in Spencer her entire life.
Norene married Glen Wetherell on October 1, 1976, at First Congregational Church in Spencer, IA. She was a member of the First Congregational Church. She and Glen served as advisors for the youth group. Norene was also a long-time member of The Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 116 and Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars. She was also a member of the BPW and enjoyed watching birds.
Glen and Norene enjoyed travelling - especially cruises and trips that involved viewing wild life and salmon fishing on the Columbia River. They also took many trips with the ATV Shrine group and enjoyed spending times with friends. They enjoyed dancing together. They volunteered for many community projects with the Chamber, University of Okoboji triathlon and RAGBRAI. She was the chairperson for the annual Flight Breakfast for 10 years and served on the Chamber Board of Directors at that time.
Norene's passion was the travel industry. She was a travel counselor for Iowa Great Lakes Travel Agency, manager of AAA Travel and Travel and Hospitality Coordinator for Pure Fishing. She travelled to Asia, the Orient, New Zealand, the Middle East, the former Yugoslavia and Europe, as well as many areas in the US. She last worked for Northwest Agency on Aging as an advocate.
Norene passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at the Spencer Hospital at the age of 64. She was preceeded in death by her parents and her husband Glen on June 19, 2012. Inlaws: Clifford and Ruby Wetherell, Burton and Marilyn Wetherell, Marge and Dale Dicks, Phyllis & Darold Brown, Richard Wetherell, Charles Wetherell, Paul Wetherell, Darlene Wetherell, Mary Katherine Wetherell and Larry Hervey.
Left to cherish her memory is her sister, Jolene Hall of Fayetteville, AR and Glen's son, Gary and his wife, Lacy of Spencer, IA. Inlaws: Carol Wetherell of Cherokee, IA; Shirley (George) Francis of Havelock, IA; Erla Wetherell of Canyon Lake, CA; Dale (Rose) Wetherell of Storm Lake, IA; Bernice (Harold) Heschke of Carson City, NV; Sophie Wetherell of Storm Lake, IA; Helen Fredericksen of Cherokee, IA; Bill (Connie) Wetherell of Whiting, IA; Carole (Dale) Culp of Deschler, NE; Sharron Hervey of Newton, IA; Denny (Fay) Wetherell of Woodbridge, VA; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends including their feline companions Sam and Mattie.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, January 21, 2013 at the First Congregational Church in Spencer.
