Norma Jean Andersen, the daughter of William and Tena (Heien) Runkle, was born March 4, 1927 in Greenville, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Greenville, where she receive her early education for 10 years and continued her education in Perryville, Maryland, where she completed her education at Perryville High School, graduating in 1944. After high school, she returned to Spencer, Iowa.
She married Carlo Andersen on January 23, 1946 at the First English Lutheran Church in Spencer. Throughout her early life, she was a stay at home mother. She later worked as a baker at Spencer High School hot lunch program. Norma also volunteered her time at St. Luke Lutheran Home, delivering Meals on Wheels and visiting residents at all nursing homes. She also loved to dance and golf. She was an active member of First English Lutheran Church and served as a guild member.
Norma passed away at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at the age of 88. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carlo and one brother, Ralph Runkle.
Left to cherish her memory are her two sons: Greg and Maria Andersen of Sioux City, IA and Kirk and his wife, Sue Andersen of Spencer; five grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at the First English Lutheran Church in Spencer.
