Norman Frederick Woelber, the son of Martin and Alma Sohl Woelber was born August 12, 1933 in Wheeler Township, in Lyon County, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in the rural Hull area, where he was baptized and confirmed in St. Paul Lutheran Church in rural Hull.
Norman graduated from Hull High School in 1950. He then served in the U.S. Army before his honorable discharge. After the army he worked for Central Telephone Company in LeMars, IA. Norman continued his education at Wartburg College gaining a degree in social work in 1964. He married Marla Hinsch at St. Paul Lutheran Church on August 2, 1963. Norman later graduated with a Masters Degree in social work from University of Nebraska Lincoln in 1970.
Norman worked for the Iowa Department of Human Services for 35 years in Black Hawk, O'Brien, and Clay Counties. He enjoyed playing softball, golf, bowling, playing cards and woodworking.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents; one brother-in-law, John Krahling; and one niece, Pam Smidstra.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Marla; 2 children, Karmen Woelber of Cedar Falls, IA and Scott (Kristine) Woelber of Minneapolis, MN; 3 grandchildren, Eddan, Bjorn, and Johanna Woelber; 2 brothers, Richard (Clara) Woelber of Mattoon, IL and Lloyd (Darlene) Woelber of Hull, IA; 2 sisters, Donna Krahling of George, IA and Glenda (Richard) Heidloff of George, IA; one brother-in-law Kenneth (Elaine) Hinsch of George, IA; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will take place 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, January 11, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer
