Olga Irene Fricke, the daughter of Ferdinand and Biena Brummer Fricke, was born November 28, 1909, near Sibley, Iowa. Olga attended rural schools in the Melvin, Sanborn and Ashton areas, attending the Melvin High School. After leaving the farm near Ashton, Iowa, the family moved to Sanborn in 1933, living there until 1938, at which time they moved to Hartley, Iowa. She was confirmed in the American Lutheran Church, Melvin, Iowa, in 1922. After moving to Hartley, she became a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ.
Olga worked 3 � years as a telephone operator for the local telephone company. She was also a waitress for Red's Caf� in Hartley for 43 years, retiring February 2, 1985. Olga loved people and enjoyed working for the caf�.
Olga passed away at the Community Memorial Health Center, Hartley, Iowa, on March 10, 2006, at the age of 96. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Helen Rinck and her husband Gilbert Rinck; and her beloved nephew Buddy Arnold.
Left to cherish her memory is her nephew, Robert Arnold and his wife Janette, of Texas; one cousin, John (Gert) Meinders, of Rushmore, MN; one niece-in-law, Mrs. (Buddy) Janet Arnold, of Sheldon, IA; her special care giver and 2nd cousin, Delores (Dather) Popma, of Sanborn, IA; and many close friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 14, 2006, at the Trinity United Church of Christ, Hartley, Iowa.
