Opal Mae Jessen

August 11, 1922 — February 15, 2015

Opal Mae Jessen, the daughter of Walter and Adelia (Wills) Woltersdorf, was born August 11, 1922 in Plessis, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in the Hartley area, where she received her education, graduating from Hartley High School in 1940. After high school, she worked at the Hartley Creamery and later taught in country schools. Opal married Donal (Jim) Jessen on February 7, 1958 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. After their marriage, she worked as a homemaker and raised her children. She loved to garden, watch Iowa Hawkeye basketball, listening to country music, baking (especially pies and rolls), sewing and puzzle books. She passed away at her home in Everly on Sunday, February 15, 2015 at the age of 92. Opal was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim in 1973; her son, Keith in 1980; two brothers: Lester and Lloyd and one sister, Darlene Berends. Left to cherish her memory are her one son, Kelly and his wife, Deb Jessen of Everly; one daughter, Kathy Jessen of Spirit Lake, IA; three grandchildren: Kimberly and her husband, Jeff Heinrichs of Spencer, Thomas Jessen and his wife, Tenee of Royal, IA and Jacob Jessen of Everly; two great grandchildren: Hunter & Kori Heinrichs; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be 2:00P.M., Wednesday, February 18, at the Warner Funeral Home in Everly.

VISITATION
Visitation will begin after 4:00 P.M.,Tuesday, with the family present from 5:00 - 7:00P.M., Tuesday evening at the Warner Funeral Home in Everly.

INTERMENT
Lone Tree Cemetery Everly, Iowa There will be refreshments served at the Warner Funeral Home Social Hall following the services at the cemetery.
