Ora Martha Honsbruch, the daughter of Chris and Martha (Luetkeman) Felten, was born February 11, 1920, on the family farm in rural Spring Township in Cherokee county. Her childhood years were spent on the family farm where she received her education at Brooke School, graduating in 1939. She was the last surviving student of the class. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's United Church of Christ in rural Peterson.
Ora married Garland Orville Honsbruch on May 23, 1941, at St. John's Church. Following their marriage, they farmed in rural Aurelia and later moved to a farm east of Larrabee in 1947. Following Garland's death, Ora moved to Peterson, IA, in 1993, where she made her home. Ora spent her whole married life as a 'Domestic Engineer' taking care of her family, housekeeping, canning, butchering and many other household chores. She enjoyed playing cards, golfing, bowling, putting puzzles together, reading, raising flowers and visiting with friends and family. Ora was a member of St. John's Church and held every office in Ladies Aid except president. She was also a member of the Birthday Club. After her health began to fail, she moved to the Wel-Life Assisted Living Facility in Alta. She moved to Sunset Knoll Nursing Facility in 2012.
