Orville 'Rocky' Tronson

March 31, 1931 — December 7, 2015

Orville Leroy Tronson, known as Rocky, the son of Bert and Anna (Poppens) Tronson, was born on March 31, 1931, in Sioux Falls, SD. Rocky's childhood years were spent in Worthing, SD, where he received his early education. He attended high school at Augustana Academy in Canton, SD, graduating in 1949. Rocky entered into the military in 1950 serving in the U.S. Air Force. During the Korean War he served as a 2nd Class Airman and Training Instructor for Military Police. He also served 13 years as a master Sgt. in the Air National Guard. He was honorably discharged in 1952. He received his B.A. attending University of South Dakota in Vermillion and Morningside College in Sioux City, IA. He remained in Sioux City most of his adult life. On June 14, 1952, Rocky married Jacqueline Smith. To this union three children were born: Deborah, Steven and Jeffery. He served as a Deputy Sheriff for Woodbury County for 2 years 1958-1960. He was employed as a Salesman for Palmer Fruit Co. 1 year and then for APAR Brokerage Co. for 28 years. (1970-1997). Rocky also sold Insurance for several years. Rocky was remarried to Marylin Fink Sievers on October 10, 1985 in Sioux City. Later they moved to Spencer where he managed the sporting department at Walmart for 6 years. He also volunteered at the Spencer Hospital as a valet. Rocky belonged to the American Legion, AARP and the Cosmopolitan Club in Sioux City. He enjoyed golf and family. Rocky passed away on December, 7, 2015 at St. Luke Lutheran Home at the age of 84. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marylin; his sister, Evelyn and his brother, Lester. Left to cherish his memory are his children: Deborah Phelan (Randy) of Boise, ID, Steve Tronson of Goodyear AZ, and Jeffrey Tronson of Sioux City, IA: his stepchildren: Sandra Wallburg (Gary) of Arnolds Park, IA, Susan Snater (Mike) of Winona, MN, Sharon Baker (Mike) of Anchorage, AK and Steven Sievers (Becky) of Mt. Caramel, IL; his sister, Betty Sunde (Gordon) of Missouri; his brother, Arnold Tronson (Pat) of Sioux Falls, SD; 17 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, December 11, at the Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.

Visitation with the family will be 5:30P.M. - 6:30P.M., Thursday evening at the funeral home in Spencer.

INTERMENT
Baker Township Melvin, Iowa Military Services will be conducted by the American Legion Post #470 of Melvin In lieu of flowers, the family will direct memorials to the Parkinson's Disease Association or the local American Legion.
