Pamela H Hansen

     Pamela Helen (Barnard) Hansen of Spencer, IA passed away peacefully from a brief illness on August 12, 2023, in Spencer, IA surrounded by her family. 

     Pam was born on January 30, 1952, in Spencer, IA to Dwight (Dick) and Shirley (Larson) Barnard.  Her childhood years were spent on the farm in the Gillett Grove area, where she attended school, graduating from South Clay High School in 1970. Following graduation, she attended Mankato State College in Mankato, MN. 

     Pam was married to Arthur (Butch) Hansen and was blessed with two children Andy and Allison.

She was preceded in death by her parents Dick and Shirley Barnard, infant sister Denise, grandparents Charles and Helen Barnard, Edwin and Hazel Larson. 

     Left to cherish her memory are her 2 children, Andy (Nikki) Hansen and grandchildren Logan and Kamryn of Spencer, IA,  Allison (Chris) Flanders of Lakewood, CO, sisters Sue (George) Johnson of Cedar Falls, IA,  Connie (Marty) Koch of Waconia, MN, brother Rich (Wendy) Barnard of Fountain Hills, AZ; nieces and nephews, Sarah Engkjer, Maggie Brytowski, Jake, Nate, and Sam Barnard, Meredith Hansen, Jeff Hansen, and her much loved grand dogs Macy, Bob, Charlie, Harper, Lucy and Rosy as well as other relatives and many friends.   

     Those who loved Pam are proud to have been able to call her a mom, sister, grandma, aunt, and friend. Pam shared her love freely and boundlessly.   Her contagious laugh, homemade lasagna, classic cheesecake, standing invitation for a glass of wine, and extremely high tolerance (aka encouragement) of her family and friends antics can only be described as “the best.”  The simplicity of living a life with those whom she loved is why she will forever be remembered as “the best” mom, sister, grandma, aunt, and friend one could hope to have.

     Pam did not want us to cry when she was gone but rather be happy that she was here.  In following her wishes, Celebration of Life will be held on September 3, 2023 from 1:00-3:00 pm (Come and Go) at Oneota Lodge in Spencer, IA.
