Pat Gross

October 19, 1926 — February 23, 2013

B. Lorana ("Pat") Gross, youngest child of Claud and Hattie Ziller Brinkley, was born October 19, 1926, in Logan Township, Clay county, Iowa. She passed away at the Spencer Hospital Hospice Care facility on February 23, 2013. Pat was educated in Logan Township, graduating from Gillette Grove High School in 1942. Pat married her beloved Raymond Gross on April 20, 1949. And, following their marriage they farmed near Greenville until 1971, when Raymond died of cancer. Pat moved to Spencer when youngest child, Kathy, graduated from South Clay High School in 1978. Pat was active in, and devoted member of, the Sacred Heart Catholic Parish community her entire married life doing for others through the Altar Society and related church activities. She was also very active in the Spencer Senior Center serving on the board for many years and serving meals and providing activities for fellow members. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, her dear husband, Raymond, and she was the last remaining sibling in her family preceded by three brothers, Husia (Mary Alice), Byron (Helen) and infant brother Charles Brinkley, and four sisters, Thelma (Mrs. Loren) Lawson, Bernice (Mrs. John) Prentice, Alice (Mrs. Edwin) Sorensen, and Lois (Mrs. Kenneth) Salton. Left to cherish her memory are son Jerry (Cyndee) of Greenville; son Randall of Houston, Texas; daughter Jane Smith (Brad) of Beaman, Iowa; son Thomas (Lynette) of Greenville; and daughter Kathy Colucci (Robert) of Hornell, New York. Her grandchildren, Ryan Gross (Roxanne), Tasha Way (Jason), Kylee Zinn (Aaron), Jordan Smith, Grant Smith (Torey), Jenna Smith, Kendra Smith, Mitchell Gross, Nicholas Gross, Christopher Gross, Kyle Colucci, Kate Colucci, and step grandchildren Shane Steinbeck and Shelbe Wadle (Dennis). Great-grandchildren Alexandra Harris (Valentino), Brynden Gross, Jackson Way, A.J. Zinn, Tate Zinn, and step great-grandchildren Kadin and Alexa Wadle. She is also survived by brother-in-law Harold Gross, his wife Louise, and sister-in-law Colleen Chambers, all of Spencer, and many other family members and friends. Memorials in honor of Pat can be made to the Spencer Hospital Hospice and to Spencer Senior Center.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer.
