Patricia Ann Day, (82 years old) a two-time cancer survivor, lost her battle on Monday, March 21, 2011, at her home in Spencer after a brave and courageous fight against colon, lung and brain cancer. Pat was born on Sept. 26, 1928, in Ottumwa, IA to Henry Hoover and Theresa (O'Conner) Hoover. She spent her childhood years in Ottumwa and graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1946. She married the love of her life, Ralph Day on Nov. 23, 1946. They moved to Webster City in 1958 . Pat was employed as a production worker for Webster City Products for 27 years until she retired (untired) in 1993. They moved to Kimberling City, MO in 1995 and later to Forsyth, Mo in 1999. They currently reside in Spencer IA. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Thomas and Bill Hoover and two sisters Bernadine Powell and Madline Coberg.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 64 years, Ralph, daughters Cheryl (David) Smith, Linda (Dennis) Linn and son Robert (Lori) Day; sisters Sally Boley, Mary Todd, Donna Henson and Betty Lathrop; grandchildren Matt (Salma) Smith, Tom (Jennifer) Smith, Kelli (Paul) Bloomquist, Katie (Brian) Balk, Kristi (Ryan) Swedean, Jon Day and Jordan Day and 6 great-grandchildren. A special thank you to the staff at Iowa Hospice and Riverview Terrace for the wonderful care given to Pat and Ralph.
SERVICES
Memorial services will be held 10:00 A.M., Thursday, March 24, 2011 at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.
