Patricia Droll

Patricia (Linnihan) Droll, only child of Terry and Betty Linnihan was born in LaCrosse, Wisconsin on August 9, 1927. The Linnihans moved to the Everly area in 1933 where Terry and Betty managed the local grain elevator. 'Patty' enjoyed reading and spent many hours absorbed in books. She also stayed active by tap dancing in local productions. Pat attended the Everly school system, graduating in 1945. She attended Briar Cliff College in Sioux City, studying to become a mortician. While at Briar Cliff, Pat met a former Everly classmate and eventually married the first 'Coolest Dude' John Droll in 1947. Pat's graceful dancing partner John passed away in January 1998. Pat was heart-broken after losing the love of her life. John and Pat had four sons: Mike (Becky) in Loveland, Colorado, Terry (Lori) in Polson, Montana, Steve (Deb) in Iowa City, Iowa and Kevin (Deb) in Spirit Lake, Iowa. They also had one daughter, Patty who preceded Pat in death in April 2003. In addition to their children, Pat and John were blessed with 14 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild. Pat spent many years working at the local hardware store in Everly. Pat was an active member of St. Mary's Church (and Rosary Society) for many years. In her little free time she wrote poetry, several of which were published. To anyone that tried to interact with Pat during an Iowa Hawkeye game it was widely known that Pat was an unabashed Iowa Hawkeye super fan. Pat and John lived out a 'bucket list' item by cheering on their beloved Hawks at the 1986 Rose Bowl in Pasadena. Our dear mom left us on April 23, 2016 at the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, Terry and Betty, her husband John and daughter Patty. Her family is given comfort knowing that she passed peacefully in her sleep. We are also comforted knowing that Dad and Mom no longer feel earthly bounds and are together again gliding along the dance floor in a better place.
