Patricia Rider

Patricia Susan Cornelius was born to Earl and Esther (Behrends) Cornelius on October 15, 1958 in Armstrong, Iowa. She graduated from high school in Emmetsburg, Iowa and then attended Iowa Lakes Community College. She married John H. Rider in 1982 in Emmetsburg, Iowa. Their only child, Nicole Ann Rider was born February 3, 1983. While John was a member of the U.S. Armed Services, they lived in Germany for a while. After returning the U.S., they lived in Chicago, IL for a while and then Spencer, IA. They later divorced, but remained friends, communicating frequently. Patty was a loving, forgiving person...choosing to see only the best in other people. She loved beautiful things and was an artist at heart and loved to sing. Just a few months ago, she talked about possibly going back to college and was delighted to learn again how many credits she had already earned. Before she had health problems, she was a good cook and a hard worker. Patty was predeceased by her father, her stepfather, her mother, and brothers: Francis Cornelius and Matthew Gappa. Left to cherish memories of Patty are: her daughter, Nicole Rider; brother, Greg (Connie) Cornelius; sisters: Judy (Blaine) Thurston, Karen (Gary) Goettsche and Margaret Baker; special friend, Joe Johnson and many other relatives and friends.
