Patricia Virginia Folsom was born in Belle Plaine, Iowa, on April 27, 1921. She was the youngest daughter of James and Virginia McVicker. When she was two years old, her family moved to Iowa City where she attended City High School, graduating in 1939. During her junior year, she danced with the newly formed Scottish Highlander Band at the University of Iowa. She was a member of the class of 1943 at the University of Iowa and was a Dolphin Queen Attendant.
Patricia married Richard D. Folsom in Pensacola, Florida, on July 18, 1943, while he was serving in the United States Navy. After World War II, they made their home in Iowa City while Richard attended the College of Dentistry at the University of Iowa. After his graduation in 1950 they moved to Spencer, where he practiced dentistry for 41 years.
Patricia was a long-time member of First Congregational Church where she served on various boards, and Spencer Drama Club and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She served as bookkeeper in her husband's office for several years. In 2006, she moved to Mankato, MN and lived in independent living until 2013, after which she lived at Hillcrest Health Care Center. Survivors include her three children: Sherry Folsom-Meek of North Mankato, MN, Virginia Folsom of Cambridge, Iowa, and Richard Folsom II (Sherri) of Omaha, Nebraska, and one step-grandchild (Travis Parks). She was preceded in death by her parents, husband (Richard Folsom), granddaughter (Patricia Meek), two sisters (Bernadine Norman and Mildred Kelso), and two brothers (Benjamin McVicker and Thomas McVicker).
