Peggy Ann Leslie was born March 2, 1931 to Adolph Mangels and Ella Hirt Mangels. Her childhood was spent in Hartley, IA where she worked at Reds Cafe and the theatre After graduation she traveled to California where she stayed with her sisters for several months. Upon returning home she married Lawrence (Pete) Leslie on June 8, 1950 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA.
Peggy and Pete made their home in Everly, IA where Peggy worked at Molly's Cafe and later stayed home with their four children.
Peggy's greatest passion was being a mom and grandmother. Her home was always filled with children. She was a Cub Scout leader, Sunday School teacher and later loved babysitting for her grandchildren who brought her great pleasure.
Peggy lived with her three sons in Dickens, IA and always said she didn't know what she would do without them.
She also enjoyed bowling, taking care of her flowers and the yard, puzzles, bird-watching and her cats.
Peggy passed away on Wednesday, August 28th at the Spencer Hospital at the age of 82.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a brother, Lester Mangels, sister-in-laws, Audrey Mangels, Idelene Tessum, and Marilyn Gathman, brother-in-laws Vern Kelso and Ossie Tessum and a niece, Cindy Simoes.
Left to cherish her memories are her 3 sons, Loren Leslie, Perry Leslie, and Danny Leslie all of Dickens, IA, her daughter and son-in-law, Deanna and Jay Clasing of Ruthven, IA, her three granchildren, Sarah Clasing of Dallas, TX, Molly Clasing of North Liberty, IA and Tyler Clasing of Ames, IA, three sisters, Bonnie Wilkens of Norwalk, CA, Floris Kelso of Northridge, CA and Betty (Mike) Crabb of Springfield, MO, special cousin, George Hintz, of Everly, IA and many other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M., Saturday, August 31, 2013, at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.
