Peggy A. Luchtel

     Peggy entered the kingdom of God on April 24, 2024, at the Fonda Specialty Care Center, Fonda, Iowa.

      Peggy was the daughter of the late, Glenn & Cora Smoot of Royal, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Havelock, Laurens, Iowa. She graduated in1953, before the family moved to Royal.

      Peggy was united in marriage to Lenis Luchtel (Lucky), in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Royal, Iowa on July 10, 1955. Lucky was still in the Navy at the time and the couple left for San Francisco a few days after. After his honorable discharge, the couple started a family and lived in Story City, Graettinger, Royal and Spencer, before retiring to Lake View Iowa.

      Peggy enjoyed being a housewife, a babysitter and working part-time in the communities as a switchboard operator for the Royal phone company and also Spencer Municipal Hospital.

Peggy started a cleaning business with her husband, “PAL Maintenance”, they enjoyed it for years, before deciding to travel. Their journeys took them to enjoy the many places the United States has to offer.

      She was proceeded in passing by her husband of 66 years Lenis (Lucky)Luchtel. Her Parents Glenn & Cora Smoot, her sister; Amelia (Millie) Tindall, Brothers; Herbert, Gerald, & Barton Smoot.

      Left to cherish her memories are her children; Lenny (Mary) of Arizona, Glenn (Pam) of Colorado, LeeAnn of Arizona. Her sisters: Linda (Ron) Swenson of Iowa, Flo Smoot of Alaska. 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Along with many relatives and friends that she enjoyed over her lifetime.
