Percy H. Toft was born January 23, 1926 at Royal, Iowa. He received his education from the Royal Schools enlisting in the Navy just before graduation. He proudly served his country aboard the USS Whitney in WW II as an anti-aircraft gunner.
On November 15, 1951 he was united in marriage to Norma Karstens. To this union two daughters were born. Percy owned and operated several local businesses, the last being the Green Lantern in Milford. He was a member of First English Lutheran Church, the VFW, American Legion and the Golden K Kiwanis.
Percy will be remembered as a devoted husband, father and grandfather. The highlight of his life were his granddaughters and his great granddaughter. He would read to them by the hour. He was a very patriotic man who deeply loved his country. Lastly Percy loved his Lord and passed his beliefs onto his family.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters: Marty Cae and Dan Klein of Estherville and Tammy Peterson of Spencer; granddaughters: Kelli Klein of Spencer and Cassandra Peterson and Mike Mell of Lake Park; great granddaughter, Adara Peterson of Lake Park; several nieces, nephews, numerous cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma in 1994; his parents, Peter and Ethel, sisters: Rhoda and Millie; brothers: Tom, Chris and Arnold and nephew, Quent Olhausen.
Blessed be the memory of Percy Toft.
