Philip John Oviatt, the son of Kevin Oviatt and Lori (Sweet) Oviatt was born on April 8, 1983, in Spencer, Iowa. He attended Spencer High School where he graduated in the class of 2001.
He excelled in bowling at the national level and tried out to make the USA Junior National Bowling Team. While bowling, he acquired his well-known nickname of ‘Fatty.’
Philip married Kourtney Huffman, daughter of Mike and Lynn Huffman on November 1, 2014. Philip was the loving father of Jayda, Carver and Breckyn.
Philip was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and loved the day ‘The Wave’ came to Kinnick Stadium. It combined his love of the Hawkeyes and helping children. He enjoyed dirt track racing and attending the Boone Super Nationals with his dad. He especially loved cheering on his extended family at the racetrack. Philip took pride in his family and never missed a chance to spend time with his wife and children, whether it was dance, wrestling or baseball. He was a grill master! Whenever there was a family event, Philip was manning the grill! Philip enjoyed all the fun chaos that his large extended family had to offer. He also enjoyed golfing. Philip was a dedicated employee and appreciated by many at Eaton Corporation, Doll Distributing and UPS.
On Thursday, April 29, 2021, Philip passed away at the age of 38 surrounded by his family. Philip is preceded in death by his grandmothers, Phyllis (Fogarty) Oviatt and Betty Lou (Riemer) Sweet; uncles: Randy (Bud) Sweet, Dennis Oviatt and Philip Oviatt; sister-in-law, Katie Huffman; and brother-in-law, Andy Huffman.
Philip is survived by his wife, Kourtney (Huffman) Oviatt and children: Jayda, Carver and Breckyn; father, Kevin Oviatt of Spencer, IA; mother, Lori (Sweet) Oviatt of Spencer, IA; grandfather, Dwain Oviatt of Spencer, IA; siblings: Katie Cook (Justin) of Spencer, IA, and Emilie (John) Davenport of Spencer, IA; nieces and nephews: Isabella, Maddox, Dylan, Harper, Emersyn, Madison, Zachary, Drayk, Myles, Baylie and Sadie; along with many cherished family and friends.
