Phyllis Sylvia Norgaard

Phyllis Sylvia Norgaard, the daughter of Philo and Katherine (Hanna) Chapman, was born March 15, 1929 in Clairmont, MN. Her childhood years were spent in Rochester, MN, where she received her education, graduating from high school in 1947. On November 14, 1948, Phyllis married Earl Norgaard in Rochester, MN. Following their marriage, they farmed in Rochester for 6 years, they then moved to Spencer in 1953 and then to Dickens in 1962, where they continued farming and operating their expanding hay bailing operation. Throughout the years, Phyllis also worked as a waitress at a caf� and as a laborer at a mushroom plant to help support her family. Phyllis went to join her husband with their Lord on April 27, 2010 at the age of 81. She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandchild, one great grandchild and her loving husband, Earl on April 2, 2010. Left to cherish her memory are her children:, Peter (Rosemary) Norgaard of Dickens, IA, Bruce (Tammy) Norgaard of Merril, IA, David (Mary) Norgaard of Sioux Rapids, IA, Suzann (Terry) Rabel of Spencer, IA, Dennis (Marleen) Norgaard of Dickens, IA and Sheri (Don) Young of Story City, IA and Alan (Lauralee) Norgaard of Ankeny, IA; 16 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to direct memorials to the Abben Cancer Center, Iowa Hospice or the Warner Dialysis Center in Spencer.
