Phyllis 'Toby' Mae Holst

Phyllis "Toby" Mae Holst, the daughter of Emil and Ella Back Struve, was born May 22, 1930, on the family farm south of Royal, Iowa. She received her early education in a country school, in 1939 the family moved to Moneta and she graduated from the Moneta High School in 1947. Toby married Richard Dean Holst on January 6, 1952, at the Hope Lutheran Church in Everly. Throughout their marriage, they made their home in the Everly area. They lived on a farm northwest of Everly where Richard farmed. Richard passed away on July 14, 1999, and in 2000, Toby moved into the town of Everly. Toby worked at the Everly Locker until it closed and then as a waitress at Barb's Corner until she retired on March 2, 2006. She was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church and also attended the Everly Methodist Church. Toby passed away on May 13, 2010, at Longhouse Residence in Spencer at the age of 79. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard; twin daughters in infancy, Jean and Jane; brother, Delmar Struve and her sister, Arlene Boetel. Toby is survived by her son, Dean Holst and Betty of Everly, IA; daughter and her husband, Peggy and Randy Huckfelt of Spencer, IA; 5 grandchildren: Doug Holst, Stephanie (Scott) Heide, Camilla (Steve) Koenig, Chris (Kari) Fear and Charity Holst; 6 great-grandchildren: Isaac Heide, Aiden Heide, Lauren Koenig, Emma Fear, Madison Fear and Alix Koostra; sister-in-law, Shirley Struve; 2 brothers-in-law: Russ and Kay Holst of May City, IA and David Holst of California; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, May 17, 2010 at the Warner Funeral Home in Everly.
