Pius P. Reis, the son of Peter and Elizabeth Uhrich Reis, was born September 12, 1921, in Zeeland, ND. His childhood years were spent in Braddock, North Dakota, where he received his education. Following his schooling, he entered the military and served with the U.S. Army during WWII, until his discharge in 1944. During his tour of duty in the military, he served in Northern France, Rhineland, where he fought in the Battle of the Bulge and Central Europe. He was awarded the Bronze Star, the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Purple Heart Medal. Following his honorable discharge, he moved back to Braddock, farmed with his family and ran a caf� in Braddock. This is where he met Charlotte Maly.
Pius married Charlotte on October 23, 1954, in Braddock, ND. Following their marriage, he worked as a mechanic in Linton until 1970. Then they moved to Colorado where he worked at Grand Junction Pipe & Supply, until his retirement in 1985. He moved to Holstein in 1985 and in 2001, he moved to Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley, Iowa. He was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel
Catholic Church in Holstein. Pius was also a member of the VFW Post #8309 in Colorado and the American Legion Dessel Schmidt Post #225 in Holstein, Iowa.
Pius passed away at the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley, Iowa on Sunday, January 8, 2006, at the age of 84. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Peter; a sister, Clara; and a daughter, Barbara.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte, of Holstein, IA; his children: Mary Malard & husband, Lee of Bismarck, ND; Paul Reis & wife, Lori of Sterling, ND; Betty Riddle & husband, John of LeMars, IA; Katherine Zimmer & husband, Dale of Cherokee, IA; Margaret Mesler of Cherokee, IA; Joyce Reis of Des Moines, IA; Michael Reis & wife, Brenda of Hartley, IA; Theodore Reis of Cherokee, IA; James Reis of Correctionville, IA; David Reis & wife, Denise of Lawton, IA; Timothy Reis & wife, Christal of Pierson, IA; and Thomas Reis of Topeka, KS; twenty seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Julia Roehrich, of Bismarck, ND; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, January 11, 2006 at Our Lady Of Good Counsel Parish in Holstein, Iowa.
