R. Dean Seibel

Roger Dean Seibel, passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at the age of 93. Dean, son of Carl and Ava (Hagerty) Seibel was born November 19, 1921 in Clay County, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in the Greenville, Iowa area, where he received his early education in a country school and later graduated from Greenville High School. Following his schooling, he worked on the family farm. Dean married Ina Mehan on October 16, 1950 in Spencer, Iowa. After their marriage, Dean pursued farming until health issues caused him to turn to farm-related occupations that included various sales positions and management of farm implement dealerships. Dean and Ina raised their family in Spencer for most of their married life, but also lived in Estherville, Carroll and Sheldon. Dean retired in 1983, but held various part-time positions in retirement to keep active. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Spencer. Dean was also active with the Evening Shade Lodge #312 A.F & A.M, Abu Bekr Temple-Scottish Rite, Spencer Area Shrine Club and the Hospital Dad's ATV Corps. Dean was preceded in death by his wife, Ina in 1995; an infant son, Duane; his parents; one brother, Donald Seibel & his wife, Margie; a sister, Margaret Penkhus & her husband, Floyd; his mother & father-in-law, Leonard & Ina Hoben; his wife's birth father, William Mehan and his brother-in-laws & sister-in-laws: Betty & Julius Krebs, Mary Lou Rossiter & Allie & Bill Black. Left to cherish his memory are his two sons, Kirby Seibel and his wife, Gena of Rogers, AR and Don Seibel and his wife, Helen of W. Des Moines, IA; three grandchildren: Kayleigh Long (Justin), Molly and Emily Seibel; one brother, Dave and his wife Barbara; and a host of other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made out to the First Christian Church - Spencer, Iowa to be directed to the Ava Seibel Camp Scholarship Fund.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.
