Ramona Brand Gidley, the daughter of Harry and Helen (Tollackson) Stacy was born on July 23, 1935, in Sioux Rapids, Iowa. She was baptized at the First Lutheran Church. She received her early education in Sioux Rapids, graduating from high school in 1953 and was the class Salutatorian. Following high school, she attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls. She then returned to Sioux Rapids and worked at First State Bank.
On February 14, 1956, Ramona married John “Jack” Gidley at the First Lutheran Church in Sioux Rapids. After their marriage, the couple lived in Texas for 2 years while Jack finished his military service. The couple moved back to Sioux Rapids in 1958, where they owned and operated a service station for many years. Ramona enjoyed being a homemaker and being active in the community. She was a Cub Scout Leader and took the troops on various adventures. She was a member of the Red Hat Club and other various clubs she enjoyed. She also, was the Iowa Egg Lady for the Iowa Egg Council for many years. She was a Head Start Helper and preschool teacher at Sioux Central School. She enjoyed showing horses, riding motorcycles and snowmobiles. Her passion was camping, and she loved taking the kids and grandkids along and staying at Cutty’s was her favorite. Jack and Ramona moved to Milford in 2015.
Ramona passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at Accura Healthcare of Milford, at the age of 85. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Jack of Milford, IA; her son, Mike (Barb) Gidley of Arnolds Park, IA and Joy (Paul) Madsen of Sioux Rapids, I; her grandchildren: Jacqueline, Kayla and John Gidley, Stacy (Madsen) Thompson (Adam), Matt (Miranda) Madsen and Nikki Madsen; her great grandchildren: Blake, Johnny and Ally Madsen, Ronin and Kaia Thompson; other relatives and friends.
