Ray A. Wetherell, the son of Merle and Mae (Townsend) Wetherell, was born on February 4, 1925, in Spencer, SD. His childhood years were spent in Peterson, where he received his education and graduated from Peterson High School in 1944. He entered into the military on June 6, 1944, serving in the United States Navy. While in the Navy he achieved the rank of Gunner's Mate Third Class. He was honorably discharged on May 4, 1946.
On January 1, 1947 Ray married Wilda Huntress in Peterson, IA. Following their marriage, Ray owned and operated a trucking business in Peterson for a short time before they moved to the farm. Ray also was involved in seed corn sales, was on the elevator board, ASCS committee and also worked for the Assessor's office. Ray was a member of the First Congregational Church where he served on many boards and committees. He was also a member of the Lion's Club, Abiff Masonic Lodge #347 and the American Legion Dean-Underwood Post #10. After retiring in 1993, Ray enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his family and friends.
Ray passed away on June 7, 2006, at his home at the age of 81. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Donald; his twin brother, Roy and one sister, Pat Mason.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Wilda of Peterson, IA; two daughters: Dianne Phillips and her husband, Dennis of Spencer, IA and Donna Dailey and her husband, Larry of Spencer, IA; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 7 step grandchildren; 16 step great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Wetherell and his wife, Mariana of Peterson, IA; sister-in-law, Dorothy Wetherell of Peterson, IA; brother-in-law, Dale Mason and his wife, Shirley of Sutherland, IA; other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held at 1:30p.m., Saturday, June 10, 2006, at the First Congregational Church in Peterson.

VISITATION
Visitation will begin after 12 noon on Friday, with the family present from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday evening at the funeral home. There will be a Masonic Service at 7:00 p.m., conducted by the Adiff Lodge #347 of Sutherland, Iowa. Warner Funeral Home of Peterson is in charge of the arrangements.
INTERMENT
Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery in Peterson. There will be a Graveside Military Service conducted by the Dean Underwood Post #10 of Peterson,
