Raymond Allen Johnson

     Raymond Allen Johnson, the son of Raymond and Virginia (Tackett) Johnson was born July 5, 1948 in Estherville, IA. His childhood years were spent in the Estherville and Spirit Lake, IA area where he attended school. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1965 and served until his Honorable Discharge in 1984. He lived in Bakersfield, CA until moving to Iowa in 1989.            

     Ray had a wide range of talents, from baker to butcher. He was an avid reader, who was always known for his plethora of information. We always said if you didn’t know and needed an answer find Grandpa! He enjoyed riding his bicycle, fishing, Game of Thrones, trips to Las Vegas, enjoying adult beverages with friends and spending time with family, especially his grandkids. He loved watching his grandkids sporting events while snacking on caramel puff corn made by his good friend Sheli.

     Ray passed away on Monday, September 14, 2020 at the Spencer Hospital at the age of 72. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Sherene Thompson, Renee Thompson (Hoss); two stepbrothers, Melvin Thompson, Arthur John.

     Left to cherish his memory are his son, Erik (Jenny) Johnson of Spencer, IA; grandkids April, Blaine (Tori), Kade and Levi Johnson; four sisters, Lucinda (Charles) Soria, Edwina Gardner, Geraldine Crawmer, and Vikki Johnson; three brothers Kebin Thompson, Shahn Thompson, Terry Johnson; other relatives and many friends.













SERVICES
Funeral services will take place 10:30 A.M., Saturday, September 19, at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.
