Raymond Frederick Schau

January 8, 1926 — May 6, 2013

Raymond F. Schau, the son of Jacob and Meta Berndt Schau, was born January 8, 1926 in Battle Creek, Iowa. He received his early education in Battle Creek. Raymond enlisted with the United States Army and served during W.W. II. He received the Purple Heart and many other Medals of Honor. He was a Life Member of Disabled American Veterans. He also received the Certificate of Continuous Membership in the American Legion Post 61 for over 60 years. He worked as a manager of the Telephone Company in Ida Grove, Iowa and District Superintendent in Denison, Iowa. Before operating a family business, Midwest Shooter's Supply in Schaller, Iowa which he sold and retired in 1986. Raymond enjoyed traveling with his wife and daughter for many years to see the country. He also loved being outdoors working in his garden and yard along with fishing. Raymond passed away on May 6, 2013 at his home in Spencer at the age of 87. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Walter who was killed in action during W.W. II, Henry, Tony, Margie, Bertha and Greta. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 57 years, Margaret of Spencer; one daughter, Sandra Schau of Spencer; one son, Raymond A. (Connie) Schau of Virginia; Grandsons: Joe and Ryan of Virginia; Granddaughter, Kathryn of Virginia; his sisters: Rose and Eunice; two sisters-in-law: Violet and Donna; nieces: Delores, Charlotte, Kathleen, Joyce and Marietta; cousins: Audrey and Gladys; other relatives and friends.

Graveside Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, May 13, 2013 at Riverside Cemetery Spencer, Iowa
