Raymond 'Gene' Wilson

Raymond Gene Wilson, the son of Ted and Louise (Patrick) Wilson, was born October 22, 1938 in Sioux City, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in Davenport, Iowa, where he received his early education and later Spencer, Iowa, where he graduated from Spencer High School. Following his schooling, he entered the military and served with the U.S. Army from January of 1957 until his honorable discharge in December of 1957. Gene married Cliffi Lee Steele and to this union, two children were born: Debra and Tamara. Gene later married Jeannie Watts and they lived their life in California, where he worked as a bartender at the Flamingo for 20 years. He later drove truck in Calfornia before moving back to Spencer. While in Spencer, he worked at a local airport for 7 years as an aircraft detailer, until his retirement. In his spare time, Gene enjoyed restoring cars, especially his El Camino. He passed away at his home in Spencer on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at the age of 71. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Jeannie. Left to cherish his memory are his special friend, Jacquelyn "Jackie" Peterson of Spencer; two daughters: Debra Kay "Debi" and her husband, Chuck Wilson and Tamara "Tami" Ramirez-Boorin all of San Diego, Ca; two step daughters: Marie and her husband, Arun Jain of Anchorage, Alaska and Frankie her husband, John Weier of Milford, IA; several grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; one great grandchild; 2 sisters: Patricia Wilson and Tina Wilson Miller; other relatives and friends.

Memorial graveside services will be held at a later date.
