In Lieu of Flowers, Memorials will be used to set up an endowment fund for pediatric cancer patients in Becky's name.
Rebecca 'Becky' Joyce Vander Tuig, the daughter of Robert and Barbara (Raber) Thunhorst, was born September 10, 1951 in LeMars, IA. She spent her early years in LeMars, Worthington, Spencer and later Primghar, IA, where she graduated from Primghar High School in 1970. After high school, she attended cosmetology school in Sioux City. She also enjoyed working with the elderly in nursing homes.
Becky married Robert 'Bob' Vander Tuig on June 14, 1974 in Primghar. In the early years of their marriage, they made their home in Vermillion, SD from 1975 - 1981, until moving to Spencer in 1981. Becky was able to be a homemaker, doing what she loved-taking care of others. She worked many years during the Clay County Fair, helping at the Bingo tent and was known as Bingo Becky. She later worked at Enchanted Oaks in Okoboji and then for her friend, at the Clay County Fair. Becky was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and past member of the Jr. Federated Women's Club.
Becky passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at her home in Spencer on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at the age of 64. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert; one brother, Richard Thunhorst and her mother and father-in-law, Matilda and Mitch Vander Tuig.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Bob of Spencer; her children: Angie (Jay) Edington of Spencer, Janelle Larson of Spencer, Kyle (Shana) Vander Tuig of Spencer and Tyler (Kelli) Vander Tuig of Crystal, MN; 7 grandchildren: Cole, Brock & Alec Edington, Kaitlyn and Brennen Larson, Doug Duncan and Alivia Vander Tuig and Tyler and Kelli's child expected in June; her mother, Barbara Thunhorst of Primghar; two brothers: Robert Thunhorst of Iowa City, IA and Trace Thunhorst of Ames, IA; other relatives and many, many friends.
Her grandchildren were her pride and joy.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at the Faith Lutheran Church in Spencer.
