Reuben Ralph Tichy

December 14, 1925 — September 7, 2014

Reuben Ralph Tichy, the son of Albin and Rose Marie (Kotrba), was born December 14, 1925 in Niobrara, NE. His early childhood years were spent in Nebraska where he received his education. He moved to Rossie, Iowa, where he began high school and later graduated from Webb High School in 1944. After his schooling he entered the military and served with the U. S. Navy during WW II from 1944 until his honorable discharge in the fall of 1946. While in the military, he was stationed at the Calicon Island and the Phillipines. Reuben married Beverly Perozzi in 1949 on Easter weekend at Tustin, CA. They made their home in California, where he was employed as a sheet metal worker for 43 years and was also a handyman carpenter and painter among other things. While in California, he was a member of the Elks Club where he held several offices and truly enjoyed. He married Arlene Crowl on December 15, 1979. After their marriage, they continued to live in California until her death in 2001, when he moved back to Royal in 2002. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Royal. Reuben was a member of the Royal American Legion, Lion's Club and loved to hunt, snow ski and water ski in his spare time. Reuben passed away at Northshire Residence in Spencer, Iowa, on Sunday, September 7, 2014, at the age of 88. He was preceded in death by his parents; his 2nd wife, Arlene; 2 brothers: Don Tichy and 2 year old, Vernon Tichy. Left to cherish his memory are his 2 sons: Kenneth Tichy (Yolanda) of Canyon Lake, CA, and Jeffrey Tichy (Anthony) of Hartley, IA; two grandchildren: Bree (Dave) Callaham & Adam Tichy (Nikki); two sisters: Georgia Crowl of Yuba City, CA, and Shirley Wavrunek of Nebraska; stepson, Donald (Elizabeth) Crowl of California; stepdaughter, Barbara (Larry) Royer of Minnesota; three step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Warner Chapel in Spencer.
