Richard "Dick" James Betz

      Richard “Dick” James Betz, the son of Nicolis and Valetta (Weis) Betz was born February 5, 1929, near Primghar, Iowa. He lived in Primghar during his childhood and early adult years and worked for Ford Motor Company.

      Dick met Marjie Endrulat in November 1952 and they married November 14, 1954, and moved to Spencer, Iowa, where he worked as a mechanic for Hart Motors. He also worked for Eaton Corporation until retirement. Dick enjoyed his work as a mechanic, building model engines, and spending winters in New Braunfels, Texas, until 2006. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer.

      Dick passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2021, at Longhouse Residence at the age of 92. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert and 4 sisters, Maybelle Riedemann, Dora Hilbert, Evelyn Martins, and Arlene Kruger.

      Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Marjie of Spencer, IA; 4 sons:  Daniel (Susie) of Harris, IA, Kirby (Barb) of Marathon, IA, Jay (Carma) of Spencer, IA, and Todd (Sandy) of Corinth, TX; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Eilene Benz of Sioux Falls, SD; brother-in-law, Robert and Wanda Endrulat of Osceola, IA; several nieces, nephews, other relatives; and many friends.
