Richard Duane Scroggin

Richard Scroggin of Hartley passed away Monday, May 29th, 2017 at Spencer Hospital. Abiding by his wishes, his body will be cremated. There will be no service. There will be a private family inurnment of the cremated remains. Arrangements are under the direction of Warner Funeral Home in Spencer. Richard was born in Spencer to the late Richard and Lucille (Potter) Scroggin on February 9th, 1935. He attended Spencer public schools and graduated from Spencer High School in 1953. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1953 to 1957. Richard married Margaret Dotson in Spencer on February 12, 1955. They later moved to California where Richard worked in sales for Carnation Dairy and then as Western Regional Manager for Riddell Sporting Goods. Richard was Head coach of Junior All-American Football for many years. After retiring in 1997, Richard and his wife, Margaret returned to Iowa. Richard's greatest joy was spending time with his wife and family. He is survived by his wife, Margaret and four children; Michael Scroggin and his wife, Laura of Sanborn, Iowa, Debra Kreutzer and her husband, Greg, Doug Scroggin and his wife, Lori, and David and his wife, Jodi, all of Hartley, IA. He is also survived by four grandchildren; Sean, McKinsey, Taylor and Brendan, one great grandchild, Ellisyn and many family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father in-law and grandson, Chad Scroggin.
