Richard "Rick" Allen Burgeson

    Richard (Rick) Allen Burgeson was born on July 25, 1954 to Charles and Velma (Shultz) Burgeson in Spencer, Iowa. Rick grew up on a farm outside of Royal. He graduated from Clay Central in 1972 and went to Iowa Lakes Community College.

     Rick married Robin Truckenmiller and had three children together and later divorced. Rick married Cheryl Lucas (Anderson) on December 13, 2013 in Royal. Rick worked at Eaton Corp. for 36 years and retired in 2010.    

     Rick loved the outdoors loved taking his kids and grandchildren fishing and camping, and loved to go on trips with his children. Rick loved to listen to music while sitting outside with his wife in front of a bonfire. He loved building things, he was a good cook, loved to grill and make lots of meals on his smoker. But most of all he loved his family.  

     Rick passed away at the Spencer Hospital on December 14, at the age of 69, after a long battle with cancer surrounded by his family.

     He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Tom; his sister-in-law, Carol Burgeson, and his stepdaughter, Nichole Lucas.

     Left to cherish his memories is the love of his life, his wife, Cheryl; his son, Brandon Burgeson and his wife, Molly of Cedar Rapids IA; his daughter, Nicole Whitington and her husband, Tom of Lathrop, Missouri; his daughter, Kara Burgeson and her significant other, Will Ritchart of Linn Grove, Iowa; his stepdaughter, Lindsey Lucas and her significant other, Tim Toebes of Spencer, Iowa; his brother, Bill Burgeson of Storm Lake, Iowa; his sister, Bonnie Guerrero and her husband, Alfonso of Phoenix Arizona; his sister, Alene Roth of Fort Dodge, IA; 9 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren, and one the way, as well as many other relatives and friends.
