Richard (Rick) David Gray

January 15, 1951 — June 22, 2014

Richard (Rick) Gray, the son of Richard and Lowene Belva (Brallier) Gray, was born January 15, 1951 in Salem, Oregon. His childhood years were spent in Spencer, where he received his education, graduating from Spencer High School in 1969. He entered the military and served with the U.S. Army from 1971 until his honorable discharge in 1973. Rick married Monika Otto on November 15, 1972 in Mannheim, Germany. After their marriage, they resided in Dickens, Iowa where he was a truck driver for Spencer Truckline for 41 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer. Rick was also a member of the Royal Jaycees and the Iowa Great Lakes Fishing Club. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Rick also enjoyed fishing and still holds the state record for a small mouth bass, a record that has stood since 1989. He passed away at his home in Dickens, Iowa on Sunday, June 22, 2014 at the age of 63. Rick was preceded in death by his parents. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Monika of Dickens, IA; two sons: Heath of Dickens, IA and John and his wife, Nicole of Cherokee, IA; four grandchildren; two sisters: Sharon (Richard) Lachner Burgeson of Spencer and Janet Galm (Jim Ransom) of Royal, IA; one brother, Terry (Lori) Gray of Arnolds Park, IA; other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M., Thursday, June 26, 2014 at the Warner Chapel in Spencer, Iowa. A Vigil service will be held at 5:00 p.m., Wednesday Evening at the Warner Funeral Home in Spencer. A military flag presentation will be conducted by Glen Pedersen Post #1 - American Legion on Thursday at the funeral home following the services. A lunch and time of fellowship will be held immediately following the funeral services at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer.
