Richard 'Rick' Gary Jackson, the son of Gary and Karen (Johnson) Jackson, was born March 24, 1960 in Spencer, Iowa. His childhood years were spent on a farm near Dickens. He attended Lake Center School during his kindergarten year and then attended Spencer schools, graduating from Spencer High School in 1978. During his high school years, he was active in 4-H and FFA. Most notably during high school, he was known for his talent on the baseball field, where he was a very successful pitcher. After his schooling he began his career in farming.
Rick was an AVID Nebraska Husker fan, a pillar in the cattle industry. The love of his life were cattle, farming, his family and his dog Jax. Rick had a nickname for everyone and no one was a stranger to him.
He married Kaylene Krieger on December 31, 2010 in Terril and they had lived in the Terril community for the last 14 years.
Rick passed away at his home on Friday, February 6, 2015 at the age of 54 following a long bout with cancer. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: James & Meta Jackson; his maternal grandparents: Carl & Madeline Johnson and a son, Cody Lee Jackson.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Kaylene of Terril; his three daughters: Tess and her husband, Clayton Eggers of Graettinger, IA, Hallee Jackson and Jordan Salton of Terril and Bailey and her husband, Matt Sievers of Newell, IA; one stepson, Dalton Perrin of Terril; his parents: Gary & Karen Jackson of Dickens, IA; two sisters: Sherri and her husband, Pat O'Brien of Clarion, IA and Jill and her husband, Terry Marquardt of Hooper, NE; his nephew and nieces: Ian & Amanda O'Brien, Molli & Tyler Leiting, Paige & Jenna Johnson and Justin Marquardt; other relatives and many, many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at the Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer.
