Richard "Dick" J. Schott, the son of William and Irene Sampers Schott, was born December 7, 1929 in Early, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in the Schaller area, where he received his education. Richard entered the military following his schooling and served with the U.S. Army from 1948, until his honorable discharge in 1949.
Richard married Phyllis Bailey on July 15, 1954 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Schaller, Iowa. In 1956, they moved to a farm near Royal, Iowa, where they farmed for many years and he did carpentry work. Following their retirement in the winter of 1989, they purchased a home in Royal, where he drove the sanitation truck. He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Royal and was a past member of the Goodwin American Legion Post #248 of Royal.
Mr. Schott passed away at his home following a lengthy illness on Saturday, March 18, 2006 at the age of 76. He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter, Kayla Seaman.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis of Royal; five daughters: Barbara and her husband, Dave Rassler of Sioux Rapids, IA, Bonnie and her husband, John Speck of Bondurant, IA, Carol and her husband, Lee Seaman of Spencer, IA, Sharon and her husband, Tim Weishaar of Blair, NE and Mary Jo and her husband, Dennis Skellenger of Golden Valley, MN; 11 grandchildren; one great grandchild; one brother, Larry Schott and his wife, Sunny of Rice Lake, WI; two sisters: Helen Baker of Cherokee, IA and Pat Johnson of Mt. Ayr, IA; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Royal,Iowa.

VISITATION
Visitation will be from 4 to 8:30 P.M., Monday at St. Louis Catholic Church in Royal with the family present from 6 to 8:00 P.M., Monday Evening. Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements. In Lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be given to the Royal Rescue and the Spencer Area Hospice.
