Richard Sutherland

Richard Lee Sutherland, the son of Donald and Gertrude (Kiley) Sutherland was born on December 17, 1949 in Waukegan, IL. His childhood years were spent in Illinois and his summers in Dickens, IA with his grandparents. He attended St. Anne's Catholic School and Barrington High School in Barrington, IL. Rick married Marcie Ann (Wright) on January 23, 1970 in Woodstock, IL. To this union on child, Jason Thomas Sutherland was born on July 20, 1970. He married Deanne (Dee) Weier on July 30, 1988. Rick was an over-the-road truck driver for several companies in Iowa and Minnesota for over 28 years. Rick was an avid golfer, and he enjoyed everyone he met at the Spencer Municipal Golf Course and the Spencer Golf and Country Club. When he wasn't out golfing, he enjoyed spending time with his family (pretty much winter months only). He enjoyed watching the Bears, Bulls, Blackhawks and Cubs. He loved listening to 60's and 70's music, while out on the open road. He enjoyed the country life, after so many years of city enviroment. He spent many hours watching wildlife on their acerage. Rick passed away at the age of 59 on December 11, 2009 at his home in Spencer, surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his father; brother, Bill; maternal and paternal grandparents. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Dee of Spencer, IA; his son, Jason and his wife, Cheryl of Carol Stream, IL; his mother, Trudy of Spencer, IA; his brother, Jerry and his wife, Joanie of Ruthven, IA; special family members: A.J., Dixie, Tasha, Ty, Cassie, Autumn and Keyshawn; 3 step-children: Eve, Jeff and Teresa and many grandchildren and great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
