Richard Terry Hamilton

September 20, 1949 — March 6, 2013

Richard Terry Hamilton, son of Alan and Mabel (Koffman) Hamilton, was born September 20, 1949, in Kansas City, KS. His childhood years were spent in Kansas City where he received his early education and later graduated from Wyandotte High School. Following his schooling, he entered the military and served with the U.S. Navy in Guam, San Diego, CA, and later Chicago, IL until his honorable discharge in 1973. Richard married Linda Jean Drake on November 21, 1970, in Kansas City, MO. After their marriage, they moved to Lincoln, NE and later Spencer, IA, where they had since made their home. Richard spent over 40 years in the printing industry, most recently with R.R. Donnelly in Spencer. On May 11, 2012, he graduated from Iowa Lakes Community College with an Associates of Science with Summa Cum Laude honors. Richard had served as president of USBC (United States Bowling Conference) in Spencer and bowled a 300 game on February 2, 1995. One of the biggest accomplishments in his life was earning the Eagle Scout Award in Boy Scouts. Richard also enjoyed umpiring for various high schools and the Spencer Cardinals for many years. He was affiliated with the Hope Reformed Church in Spencer. Richard passed away at his home in Spencer at the age of 63, following a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his mother; and two nephews, Byron and Sean Grosko. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Linda of Spencer; two sons: Christopher and daughter-in-law, Lisa and grandchildren, Zachary and Alexandra all of Fremont, NE, and Brian Hamilton of Spencer, IA; one sister, Joyce Grosko of Shawnee, KS; other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at the Warner Chapel in Spencer. A Military Flag Presentation will be held following the services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to the American Cancer Society.

Visitation will begin 4:00 P.M., Monday with the family present from 5 to 7:00 P.M., Monday Evening at the Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.
