Robert Alvin Kluender

Robert Alvin Kluender, the son of Alvin and Anna Witt Kluender, was born July 31, 1940 in Hartley, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in Hartley, where he received his education, graduating from Hartley High School. Following his schooling, he joined the National Guard, where he served from 1959 to 1966, achieving the rank of Sergeant. Bob married Carole Ann Struve on June 23, 1963 in Hartley, Iowa. Following their marriage, he worked as a rural mail carrier for 32 years, until his retirement. He later worked at Brown Medical in Hartley and then the Hartley and Everly Farm & Home. Bob was a member of the United Methodist Church of Everly. He was also an active member of the Lion's Club and the Moose Lodge. In his spare time, Bob enjoyed putting puzzles together, playing cards and woodworking. Bob passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at the Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa at the age of 71. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Shannon Kluender. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Carole of Hartley; his children: Robert 'Rob' Kluender and his wife, Marty of Spencer, Jodi Wimmer and her husband, Mike of Royal, IA, Jason Kluender of Everly, IA and Valerie Johnson and her husband, Frayne of Spencer, IA; nine grandchildren; five sisters: Karlene Garn of Ames, IA, Carole Golla of Minneapolis, MN, Beverly Grausnick and her husband, Mark of Hastings, MN, Donna Willemsen of Delevon, WI and Nancy Rosenboom and her husband, Roger of Sheldon, IA; other relatives and many friends.
