Robert 'Doc' Arthur Eninger, the son of Keith and Rose (Svec) Eninger, was born August 19, 1922, in Middle Inlet, Wisconsin. When he was young his family moved to a farm outside Spencer, Iowa. He graduated from Spencer High School in 1939 and from Iowa State University with a Veterinary of Medicine degree in 1943. He was a member of the ROTC during his college years.
Bob married Wanda Taylor on March 26, 1948, at her parent's home in Melvin, IA. Following their marriage they lived in Royal, where he served on the town council and school board while practicing veterinary medicine. He sold his practice in 1963. He continued his farm and cattle feeding operation south of Rossie until his retirement in 1974. They lived briefly in Spencer, then Bend, Oregon for three years from 1975 to 1978, and then returned to Spencer. Bob was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge and the Clay County Livestock Feeder Association. Bob enjoyed fishing and was an avid reader.
Robert passed away at his home early Monday morning, September 23, 2013, at the age of 91. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant twin daughter.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Wanda, his children, Dianne Binder and her husband, Larry King of Spencer, IA, Larry Eninger and his wife, Betsy of Crescent City, CA and Donnis Letzkus and her husband, John of Spencer, IA; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great, great grandchild; one sister, Phyllis Graham of Papillion, NE; one brother, Harold Eninger and his wife, Jeanne of Spencer, IA; brother-in-law, Bob Taylor and his wife, Suzonne of Dover, DE; sister-in-law, Ann Hansen and her husband, Kirk of Bloomfield Hills, MI; and many other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, September 26, 2013 at Warner Chapel in Spencer.
