Robert “Bob” Alfred Rorah, the son of Homer and Elsie (Howard) Rorah, was born July 6, 1935 in Spencer, IA. His childhood years were spent in Spencer, where he received his education, graduating from Spencer High School in 1953. In 1952, he believed on the Lord Jesus Christ for his salvation. He was baptized and became a member of First Baptist Church in Spencer. He continued his education studying music at Northwestern College in Minneapolis, MN.
After returning to Spencer, Bob married Lorena Marie Rose on November 28, 1954. He worked at Spencer Foods and later was an insurance agent for American Family and as the top agent for 2 years, was selected to go to the World’s Fair in New York City in 1965. He later continued his working career at Spencer Municipal Utilities as a meter reader, Light Plant Operator and finally as the operator of the Water Plant until his retirement. Bob enjoyed hunting and fishing since his early years, enjoyed being the family genealogist, instructor for the Crossroad Bible Institute. He also enjoyed singing, which was a big part of his life.
Bob passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at the age of 86. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters: Judy and Adrea.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Lorena of Spencer; his daughters: Jewell Simon of Pennsylvania, Rita (Steve) Mitchell of South Carolina, Renee (Richard) Egesdal of Spencer and Roberta (Brian) Schmidt of Arizona; 13 grandchildren; 36 Great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; several “honorary” grandchildren; two brothers: William (Mary Jane) Rorah and Archie (Mindy) Lachner; two sisters: Linda Cardanini and Carolyn (Chris) Weaver; many nephews; nieces and friends.
