Robert 'Bob' John Vanderhoff

Robert "Bob" John Vanderhoff, the son of Ernest F. and Jeanette M. (Southworth) Nissen, was born May 17, 1921 in Silver Lake Township, Ruthven, Iowa. He was adopted at the age of 3 by George and Emma (Nissen) Vanderhoff, after the passing of his mother. He attended schools in Logan Township and Erie PA, and graduated from Gillett Grove High School in 1941. Robert married Jessie Irene Parsons on October 12, 1941, in Spencer, IA. To this union were born two children: Russell and Nancy. Following their marriage, they farmed in the Mallard, Ayshire area. Robert married Florence Rosella Mincer in 1996 at which time he moved to Spencer. He was a member of DaySpring Assembly of God where he served on the board. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards and spending time with family. He passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2017, at the Spencer Hospital at the age of 95 years and 10 months. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wives: Jessie in 1987 and Florence in 2008; his daughter-in-law, Marlys; his 6 brothers: Lyle Anderson, Roy, Melvin, Eugene, Gary, and Ronald Nissen; 4 sisters: Vera McLaughlin and Marie Reeves, Virginia and Delores. Left to cherish his memory are his one son, Russell and his wife, Audrey Vanderhoff of Spencer, IA; his daughter, Nancy Eaton of Spencer, IA; his grandchildren: Darcy (Greg) Benson of Spencer, Troy (Jeanene) Vanderhoff of Fountain CO, Brett (Angie) Vanderhoff of Greenville, Calvin (Jenna) Vanderhoff of Loveland, CO, Roberta (Kyle) Newnam of Clinton, IL; 12 great grandchildren; half-brother, Dennis Nissen of Sioux Falls, SD; many stepchildren, grandchildren, great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
