Robert 'Bob' Wilson White

Robert Wilson White, the son of Louis A. and Ruth (Wilson) White, was born August 26, 1927, near Rolfe, IA, and resided in Clay County since he was about seven years old. Bob attended Clay County schools and Spencer High School where he graduated in 1945. He then attended South Dakota State University at Brookings for two years prior to going into the Army in 1951. He served with the 2nd Division in Korea for ten months of front line duty, reaching the rank of sergeant. Bob was discharged on October 9, 1952, and returned home to farm with his father near Dickens. On September 3, 1955, he married Marilyn Eddy at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer, IA. Following their marriage, they continued farming with his father until moving to their home farm four miles north of Peterson on March 1, 1958, where he farmed for the rest of his life. He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Royal. He was also a past commander of the American Legion Post in Peterson, served as organization representative from the Legion for the Boy Scout committee, was a member of the ASCS committee, served on the American Red Cross Board, was a Lion's Club member and a Clay County Pork Producer. Bob served as Democratic Township Committeeman for 14 years. He served on the Clay County Fair Board for 21 years, as well as serving on the Peterson Coop Elevator Board. In recent years he has been a member of the Clay County Zoning Board and presently a Peterson Township Trustee. Bob enjoyed reading, fishing, and driving his new pickup. Most of all he loved spending time with his children and 11 grandchildren Bob passed away at his farm near Peterson on Friday, July 1, 2011, at the age of 83. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Shawn; one brother, L.A. White, Jr.; and one sister, Muriel Schoelerman. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Marilyn of rural Peterson; his children: Chuck White of Spencer, IA, Kevin (Diane) White of Peterson, IA, Kathleen (Bruce) Baumgarn of Madrid, IA and Kara (Steve) Drew of Egan, SD; grandchildren: Robert, Sarah & Andrew White, Annette & Patrick White, Brandon & Rebecca White, Elizabeth & Nicholas Baumgarn and Kaitlyn & Kendra Drew; two sisters: Patricia Hossack of Spencer, IA and Martha Lou (Herb) Hoover of Marion, IA; other relatives and many friends. Memorials may be given to the American Legion Post #10, Peterson, or Prairie Heritage Center, Peterson, Iowa.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer.

VISITATION
Visitation will begin 4:00 P.M., Tuesday, July 5, 2011. A Catholic Rosary will be held 5:00 P.M., Tuesday and the family will greet friends from 5:30 to 8:30 P.M., Tuesday evening, all at the Warner Funeral Home in Peterson.

INTERMENT
Oakland Cemetery Peterson, Iowa, 2:00 P.M., Wednesday afternoon following the lunch at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer. A military service will be conducted by Dean-Underwood Post #10 of Peterson, Iowa following the graveside services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to American Legion Post #10 of Peterson, Iowa or the Prairie Heritage Center in Peterson.
