Robert Dale Hinton, the son of Delbert and Edith (Stockdale) Hinton, was born April 19, 1921 in Bradford, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in Iowa Falls, where he received his education, graduating from Iowa Falls High School. After his schooling, he entered the military and served with the Army Air Force during WWII from 1942 until his honorable discharge as a SGT in 1945.
Bob married Dorothy Waddell on February 27, 1947 in Hampton, Iowa. After their marriage, they lived in the communities of Iowa Falls and Emmetsburg, Iowa until moving to Spencer, Iowa in 1959. He worked for Halsne Case IH producing Farm Equipment Sales for several years until his retirement in 1986 after 32 years of service. Bob was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer. He was also a member of the Spencer American Legion and the Moose Lodge. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, playing pool and fishing. He was very happy to have celebrated his 70th wedding anniversary.
He passed away at Northshire Residence on March 25, 2017 at the age of 95. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Linda Hinton and three brothers: William, James and Howard.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Dorothy of Spencer; his children: Vickie (Richard) Radtke of Owattona, MN, Mark (Cindi) Hinton of Spencer, IA and Laurie (Dean) Gabhart of Sioux Center, IA; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at the Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer. Military services will conducted by American Legion Post #1 and VFW Clay County Post #3159 following the funeral services at the church.
