Robert Dean "Nuke" Newcomb, the son of Roy and Hazel (Howard) Newcomb, was born April 4, 1936 in Spencer, Iowa. His childhood was spent in Spencer, where he received his education, graduating from Spencer High School.
Nuke married Saundra Faye Rogers on January 19, 1958 in Spencer. After their marriage, they lived briefly in Spencer, where he worked for Nesbitt Bottling Co, delivering soda pop. They moved to Dickens, followed by a farm near Gillett Grove where he worked for Spencer Construction Company and farmed for several years. In 1973, they found the perfect area in Greenville to settle into and raise their children. Bob went to work for Spencer Ready Mix, where he worked for almost 38 years, until his retirement. He was a member of the Greenville Congregational Church. Bob came to know a lot of people through his job at the ready mix company. He enjoyed watching his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren grow. He was a big Minnesota Vikings and Iowa Hawkeyes fan.
On August 19, 2012, Bob passed away at his home in Greenville at the age of 76. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Saundra on March 6, 2007; two sisters: Leona and Arlene; two brothers: Harlan and Melvin and an infant granddaughter, Jacklynn.
