Robert Dean Steuben was born on June 2, 1931, in Spencer along with his twin brother, Ronald, to Peter and Elfie Schoelerman Steuben. He spent his childhood in Everly and graduated from Everly High School in 1949. Robert was active in basketball and baseball which he excelled in.
Robert entered the U.S. Army in August 1952 during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged May of 1954.
On February 11, 1955, he married Betty Ann Mori at Everly. After their marriage they farmed south of Everly raising hogs and feeding cattle.
Robert was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church and Everly American Legion Post 414. He served on the Hope Lutheran Church council, Evertek United Telephone board, Everly Community School board and was a past 4-H leader.
Robert enjoyed watching all sports especially baseball, his favorites were Chicago Cubs and Atlanta Braves. Also, dancing and playing cards. He thoroughly enjoyed his children and grandchildren, along with going to their sporting events and livestock shows. Robert was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Ronald; 2 sisters-in-law: Shirley Steuben and Beverly Steuben; and brother-in-law, Robert Sorenson.
Left to cherish his memory are Betty Ann, wife of 60 years; 2 children: Rod (Teresa) Steuben and Joanne (Rick) Follon, all of Everly; 5 grandsons: Brandon (Melissa) Steuben, Nick (Jena) Steuben, Chase (Ronni) Steuben, Brady (Brittany) Follon and William (Darcie) Follon, 8 great-grandchildren, many friends and relatives.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, January 15, 2016 at Hope Lutheran Church in Everly, Iowa
