Robert Essick

June 20, 1925 — September 19, 2008

Robert "Bob" Eugene Essick, the son of Harold Clyde and Mabel Irene Johnson Essick, was born June 20, 1925, in Pocahontas County, IA. He received his early education in country schools in Pocahontas County. Bob married Eleanor Ruth Woodford on December 3, 1943, in Jackson, MN. Following their marriage, they lived in rural Pocahontas. They then moved to Webb where Bob farmed and worked for C.I. Hersom Construction doing masonry work. In 1973, they moved to Laurens and he continued to work for Hersom's until retiring in 1987. In 1991, they moved to Spencer. Bob enjoyed family gatherings and visits from his grandchildren. He always took pride in a job well done and enjoyed yard work and gardening after his retirement. Bob passed away on September 19, 2008, at his home in Spencer, IA, at the age of 83. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jeanette Essick; brother, Donald Essick and his parents-in-law, Art and Mae Woodford. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor of Spencer; three daughters and their husbands: Peggy & Tom Christian of Sioux Rapids, Patricia "Pat & Troy Hermstad of Sioux Rapids and Donna & Darwyn Dickmann of Hull; grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Sara & Monte Fassler and their children, Rachel, Rebecca & Jayce; Karl Glover & fianc� Andrea Beedle; Kyle & Robin Glover and their children, Layne, Alivia, Koen & Kray; Kale Glover; Jessica Hermstad; Justin & Nancy Dickmann and their children, Carter & Elijah; Leah Dickmann; and Ashley Dickmann; sister-in-law, Dorothy Weber; brother-in-law, Leo Alexander; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30am on Monday, September 22, 2008 at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.
