Robert Henry Black, the son of Ray and Mabel (Cross) Black, was born June 27, 1926 in Webb, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in Spencer, Iowa, where he received his education, graduating from Spencer High School. He later entered the military and served with the U.S. Navy from 1944 until his honorable discharge in 1946.
Bob married Milly Halling on May 29, 1946. He worked as a machinist for Arnold Motor Supply for 47 years until his retirement in 2000. Bob was a member of the First Baptist Church in Spencer, where he was deacon of the church. He was also a member of the American Legion.
He passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at the age of 95. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mildred “Milly”; 2 brothers: Ray, Jr. and Bill; one daughter, Jeanie and 3 sisters: Verna Frad, Josephine Tuttle and Hazel Walker.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Julie and her husband, Jerry of Nashua, New Hampshire; one granddaughter, Marina; a brother, James Black of Knoxville, TN other relatives and many friends.
