Robert Leroy Peters

Robert LeRoy Peters, the son of Christ and Lillie (Newkirk) Peters, was born on April 6, 1938, in Hartley, Iowa. He received his early education by attending grade school in Hartley. Robert entered into the military on December 12, 1962, serving in the U.S. Army. He was honorably discharged on August 19, 1963. Robert married Mary Englekes on December 5, 1962 in Rock Rapids, Iowa. Following their marriage, they lived in Hartley. Robert worked for the City of Hartley in the Sanitation Department for over 20 years, retiring in 1994. He was a member of the Arthur W. Kirchoff Post #228 in Hartley. Robert enjoyed working with and collecting scrap iron. Robert passed away on March 14, 2011, at the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD, at the age of 72. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother and five sisters. Left to cherish are his wife, Mary of Hartley, IA; two sons: Bobby Killmer Peters (Jackie) of Spencer, IA and Robert Peters, Jr. of Hartley, IA; four daughters: Roxanne Roth (Marty) of Hartley, IA, Barbara Hayden (Larry) of Corydon, IA, Diane Brown (Gene) of Hartley, IA and Kathleen Daniels (Jr.) of Sutherland, IA; 16 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; two brothers; one sister; other relatives and friends.
