Robert Roy Hughes

Robert Roy Hughes, the son of George and Ruby (Henaman) Hughes was born on September 16, 1946 in Spencer, IA. His childhood years were spent in the Spencer area where he attended school and graduated from Spencer High School in 1964. Robert enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1965 and served until his Honorable Discharge in 1968. After returning to Spencer, he worked for the Spencer Packing Plant, and Morton Buildings. He moved to Texas for several years before returning to Spencer and worked for Wonder Bread until his retirement in 2010. Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of American Legion. Robert passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at the Spencer Hospital at the age of 70. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Rita Kling. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Tonya (Marshal Saboe) Guerttman of Spencer, IA; 5 grandchildren, Kyle, Kayden, Brennan, Aspen, and Anniston; one brother, Vern (Perri) Hughes of Langdon, IA; 2 sisters, Ginger (Bill) Aldinger of Livingston, TX and Diane Mendoza of Ione, WA; one aunt, Esther Baxter of Langdon, IA; one uncle, Darrel Henaman of Lyle, MN; other relatives; and many friends.
SERVICES
Memorial services will take place 10:30 A.M., Thursday, June 15, at the Warner Chapel in Spencer.
